Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. 1958-2013

Cynthia Moss Bernal, 55, of Falls City, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013. She was born April 27, 1958, in Vista, Calif., to Elizabeth “Liz” Sczepanik and Capt. John Clinton Moss Sr.

Cynthia was an accountant, having worked for Prestige Homes and a law firm. Cynthia and Rafael Bernal were married on June 17, 2002.

She was preceded in death by her father; and grandparents Otillie and Emerick Sczepanik.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Rafael Bernal of Falls City; mother Elizabeth “Liz” Moss of Falls City; son Franklin Schmidt III and wife Michelle of San Antonio; aunt Gracie Smith of San Antonio; sisters Debrah Ann Sekula and husband Alan Sekula Sr. of Falls City, Rebecca Williams and husband Trevor of Pittsburgh, Calif., and Kathleen Moss of Houston; brother John Moss and wife Jennifer of San Antonio; grandchildren Aleanna, Sadie, Bella, and Bryce Schmidt; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 28, at 5 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the Falls City Cemetery in Karnes County.

Serving as pallbearers were Alan Sekula Jr., Alan Sekula Sr., Michael Sekula, Brian Dziuk, Fabian Wiatrek, Hudson Moss, Ronnie Forister, Roger Payne, and Rene Gutierrez.
