Letter: Get back to better morals
We are hearing a lot about sexual assaults in our military, but similar problems exist in our high schools, colleges, and universities ... and for that matter, in our elementary schools as well.
Go to Google and search “sexual assaults in our universities.” Then do the same with high schools, and elementary schools. You will discover more information on the subject than you could ever possibly read.
Face it. Sexual assaults are happening everywhere. Even in our churches, and yes, even in our nursing homes.
Demanding more laws and greater penalties will accomplish nothing. It hasn’t worked with drugs, and it won’t work with sex. Sex is everywhere. It is blatantly depicted in the films we see, the TV programs we watch, the books and magazines we read, the music we hear, the clothes we wear, the advertising to which we are subjected, and on and on.
There are no panaceas. There are no solutions. We have arrived at this point because of the culture we have allowed to develop through the years and change will only take place when we are fed up with how things are, and we change our attitudes toward them.
This will not be done from the top down. It has to be done from the bottom up. It must be brought about by molding the mindset of our children on matters of right and wrong, propriety, and impropriety.
Yes we have to get back to morals and morality. There is no other solution.
