On May 11, the Floresville Rotary held its fifth annual Shrimp Boil, which is the main fund-raising event for the local club. A record number of tickets were sold this year for this fun, family-oriented happening. A large selection of silent auction items was available at the event; the most popular item being a scoreboard for playing washers. Live music was provided by local band, “Raisin’ Kane.”

The Rotary is an international service-oriented organization with emphasis on community. The Floresville Rotary has been in existence since September 2008, meeting the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in Lew’s Patio & Grill. Yearly, the club sponsors college scholarship(s) awarded to a Floresville High School senior, to attend the college of their choice.
