Laken Snyder, 17, is a candidate for the 2013 Stockdale Watermelon Jubilee Rodeo Queen. She has lived in Stockdale most of her life and will be a senior in the fall at Stockdale High School. Laken is taking college prep courses and plans to attend Texas State University.

Laken’s UIL activities include cheerleading, golf, poetry, and one-act play.

The daughter of Lonnie and Laura Snyder, Laken is the granddaughter of Arnold and Helen Lambeck of Stockdale and Larry and Marlene Snyder of West Virginia.

Laken loves the summer most because she has more time to spend training her three Arabian horses and travel to Fort Worth and Albuquerque, N.M., to show at the regional and national level. She has ridden horses since she was 5 and joined the Arabian Horse Association when she was 12 to compete in the “A” rated Arabian horse shows.

Laken has watched the Stockdale Rodeo as long as she can remember and now looks forward to being part of this tradition and wonderful community event.
