Jim Bob Jessee, 78, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, in the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in Seguin. She was born Eva Ruth Cade on Feb. 10, 1935, in Knox County, the daughter of Joe B. Cade and Florine Hart.

She married Johnnie Dodge Jessee on Feb. 7, 1953, in La Pryor. At the time of his passing, they were less than four months away from celebrating 50 years of marriage. She had a successful career as an executive assistant at H-E-B and retired as an honored employee after 23 years of dedicated service. She demonstrated a strong work ethic and generosity, providing for others before herself. She was a gifted gardener with the ability to make plants flourish, and an admired cook whose recipes will be a continued tradition at family gatherings in remembrance of her.

Jim Bob was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Derwood Cade; and a sister, Joann Cade Welch.

She is survived by four children, Johnnie Paul Jessee, Necia Guelker, Woodie Joe Jessee and wife Faye Lynn, and Judi Lapointe; 11 grandchildren; four and a half great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, June 14, from 6-9 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 9 a.m. in the funeral chapel, officiated by the Rev. Miles Guelker.

Interment followed in the Concrete Cemetery in La Vernia.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children, 603 E. Hildebrand Ave., San Antonio, TX 78212.
