Adelia Gonzales Cantu passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in Floresville at the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 29 days. She was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Floresville, Texas, to Estevan and Maria Carmen Munoz Gonzales. She was a lifelong resident of Floresville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard D. Cantu Sr., and her parents.

Adelia is survived by her children, Sherri Lynn Arenal and husband Ernest of Floresville, Sam Garcia and wife Pat of Floresville, Rick Cantu Jr. and wife Cindy of Floresville, Felix Cantu and wife Dora of Poth, and Gavino Cantu and wife and Griselda of Floresville; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Thursday, June 13, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with the Rev. Phil Henning officiating.

Interment followed in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Elmendorf.

Serving as pallbearers were Sam Garcia III, Rodney Cantu, Ernesto Arenal, Estevan Arenal, Stefano Cantu, and Antonio Cantu.
