Police charge two after car chase
FLORESVILLE -- Police here have charged two teens following an early morning vehicular pursuit June 9.
Adam Saenz, 19, of Floresville was charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. His passenger, 19-year-old James Cox of Floresville, was charged with public intoxication.
Floresville Police Department Lt. Chad Clark said that at approximately 5:09 a.m., Patrolman Matthew Redd observed a black Dodge Challenger failing to stop as it traveled through the intersection of D and Third streets. Redd reported that the vehicle turned and sped south on Third Street, prompting him to activate his patrol car’s overhead lights as he followed the Challenger.
The vehicle briefly stopped at the corner of Third and E streets, where Redd briefly spoke with Saenz before the driver allegedly sped away again. Redd later intercepted the Challenger near a dead end on E Street, where Saenz allegedly turned the vehicle around to point it at Redd, stopped, and began spinning the rear wheels while revving the engine. Fearing for his life, the patrolman drew his service weapon and ordered the pair out of the vehicle at gunpoint.
Redd reported that he detected a heavy odor of marijuana from both individuals. Cox appeared to be under the influence of the drug. The officer transported the pair to the Wilson County Jail, where records indicate they were released on June 9. Saenz posted a $10,000 bond, while Cox posted a $400 bond.
