POTH -- The school district here continues its efforts to improve facilities for district students following voter approval in May of a bond issue to address these needs. The agenda of the Poth Independent School District’s (ISD) June 10 regular board meeting reflected this focus.

Following the meeting, Superintendent Scott Caloss said he provided the board with an update on the district’s 10-year facilities plan. Also, he said that architects have started the design phase for the new high school addition, which will contain science classrooms and labs, a Life Skills classroom, and more.

He added that the school board:

•Approved undertaking a study of the high school building. This study will look into the movement in the foundation.

•Approved performing a demographic study in connection with the 10-year facilities plan.

The trustees also recognized Brandon Darr for being a state qualifier in the 2013 Ford AAA competition at San Jacinto College and approved student athletic insurance for next school year.

In addition, the board members approved changing the date of the next regularly scheduled board meeting to July 15.
