Registration

The La Vernia Grizzlies organization is registering children ages 5-13 for the 2013 fall football and cheer seasons. Registration sessions are held every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Wiseman Field.

Participation costs $240 for tackle football players ages 6-13. The fee for flag football (ages 4-6) is $180, and cheerleading (ages 3-13) is $110 plus the cost of uniforms. Football fees include all safety equipment, as well as both practice and game uniforms.

Discounts are available at registration. Participants will receive $5 off with a donation of three canned goods, which will go to the La Vernia Food Pantry. Another $5 discount will be given for additional players in the same family. Registration assistance can be considered on a case-by-case basis according to need.

For those interested in volunteering as a coach, team mom/dad, or a board member, volunteer forms are available at registration. You may also contact a current board member.

For more information, call 830-779-3082.

Speed, agility

The Grizzlies will once again host a speed and agility camp during the summer. The camp will be held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6-7 p.m.

Speed and agility training concentrates on building quick muscle skills for increased ability to run and change direction. This training is for both boys and girls, and will help in any sport in which your child is involved. Boys and girls of all ages are invited to work out.

Athletes do not have to be a Grizzly to participate. The cost is $5 per night, with no commitment on how many sessions are attended. Parents are also welcome to participate.

Physicals

Jessica Sanders, a Family Nurse Practitioner, will be conducting physicals Saturday, July 13, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in La Vernia. She will be doing UIL physicals for high school and middle school athletes, as well.

Ms. Sanders is charging $25 per physical, with all proceeds going to the Grizzlies! Thank you, Jessica!
