The Floresville Academic Scholarship Fund recently awarded $8,000 in scholarships to 14 members of the class of 2013. Recipients are as follows:

•$1,000 scholarships -- Kurtis Quillin, Alexandria Butts, Jonathan Gaudlitz

•$700 scholarships -- Kaitlyn Eberhart, Elisa Meza, Liesel Raabe

•$400 scholarships -- Emily Morehous, Madison Pollok, Lindsey Wilson, Emma Woodlee, John Handowski, Matthew Hoelscher, Kaitlyn Montoya, and Albert Saenz III.

Since its inception in 1995, more than $133,000 has been awarded to 174 Floresville High School graduates. The scholarship fund recognizes academic achievement as compared to a national standard (ACT/SAT scores) as well as academic diligence and citizenship. The scholarships are funded by donations, honorariums, memorial contributions, and generous gifts by Floresville citizens.

Memorial, honorariums, and donations may be mailed to Floresville Academic Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 281, Floresville, TX 78114. All donations should be received by May 10, 2014, in order to be included in next year’s program. The board of directors wishes to thank all who contributed in 2013.
