LA VERNIA -- A home near here is a total loss today, following an early morning fire.

The mobile home of Kellie Bielke in the 400 block of Hidden Deer off C.R. 319 was destroyed by fire just before sunrise July 3. The fire started in the living room, according to emergency services at the scene. Bielke was next door at her mother’s house at the time of the fire.

Members of the La Vernia, Sutherland Springs, and Stockdale volunteer fire departments responded, as well as the La Vernia Emergency Medical Services.

The flames were quickly extinguished. Firefighters remained on the scene to address hot spots.
