Baptist family gathering July 13-16
Texas Baptists are celebrating their 127th meeting with a first family gathering Saturday through Tuesday, July 13-16, in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center at 200 E. Market St. in San Antonio.
The Texas Baptist Family Gathering assembly, the largest non-Catholic Christian group in the state, voted to lay aside its normal annual meeting and gather every five years for this free event.
Highlights of free events include:
•July 13, 7 p.m. Rally Hispano/ Hispanic Rally, Life Church of San Antonio, South Campus (formerly South San Filadelfia Church), 2483 W. Southcross Blvd.
•July 14-17. Texas Baptist Family Gathering Shoe Drive, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center
•July 14, 11 a.m. Cowboy Church Gathering, 374 C.R. 341, Hondo. Service followed by a chuck wagon barbecue and a horseless rodeo. Cowboy Fellowship in Jourdanton, call (830) 769-3733.
•July 14-15, 8:30 p.m. Trumpeter David O’Neill Performance, Arneson River Theatre, 418 Villita St.
•July 15, 2 p.m. -- Discovering More About My Muslim Friends will include an off-site visit to a local mosque and listen to an introductory teaching to Islam.
•July 16, noon -- Mission Construction Project: Harlandale Baptist Church, 502 E. Southcross Blvd.
