SASPAMCO -- Two men face federal charges following a multi-agency drugs and narcotics bust here July 2.

Jesse Matthew Gamez was arrested after personnel from agencies including the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, the 81st Judicial District Attorney's Office, and various federal agencies executed a search warrant of his home on Underpass Lane off C.R. 128. A second search at a home on F.M. 775 near the intersection of C.R. 128 led to the arrest of Henry Trinidad Jr.

As a result of the searches at the two locations, officials seized methamphetamine, marijuana, multiple weapons, body armor, and approximately $10,000 in cash. Trinidad was released on a $25,000 unsecured bond, while Gamez remains in federal custody. DPS confirmed that the investigation continues and that other suspects are being sought.

I agree, we need to take care of our deputies and jailers, but to just give everyone across the board a 5% raise is crazy. The commissioners haven't done squat for our county roads because they always say there is no money.... More ›

Local law enforcement always should know more than the feds or dps,,, they are LOCAL, and they better than anyone know the community by patrolling and interacting with the public... once they get a sniff of something if they... More ›

Senior, Eric, POFPO you are right. If they want to give a $5,000/4,000 longevity pay to someone lets look at the Sheriff's office. Did you know MOST of the deputies, investigators, have been there 10+ years. Talk about longevity... More ›

Senior Citizen is right. Too often, Wilson County's entire budget process has been penny wise and dollar foolish. They go after all of this pie-in-the-sky nonsense, allowing each commissioner to have his little fiefdom, but... More ›

Eric, You got it! We should increase pay for deputies, BUT NOT ACROSS THE BOARD to include clerks, commissioners, and judge.

Running Late, The local law enforcement jobs don't pay enough to attract good officers, We get the ones who couldn't find jobs. When you don't have top notch employees you cant accomplish much.

It's NOT an issue of manpower, it's INTEGRITY. Everybody in town seems to know who the drug dealers are, but the sheriff's office doesn't? Drug and weapon violations in a county commissioner's own family, and he doesn't... More ›

It's not that the WCSO can't do this on their own, they don't have the man power. They do what they can with what they are given. DPS, DEA, and other agencies have the resources and manpower to be able to stake out a house... More ›
