LA VERNIA -- La Vernia Little League is hosting a Big League Regional Tournament Friday through Monday, July 12-15. Competing in the tournament will be teams from Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Texas, including a team from La Vernia. The winner will advance to the Big League World Series in North Carolina.

La Vernia Little League Information Officer Jim Elrod expressed his excitement over the event, and said this tournament is a “big deal” for La Vernia. The city may have the chance to host the tournament on a yearly basis, bringing many visitors to shop and dine in La Vernia.

The Big League division is for players ages 16-18 years old. The talent expected in La Vernia this weekend will be high, and the community is encouraged to check out the action at the high school complex.

For more information, or to help with sponsorship, contact Elrod at 210-268-7663 or email lvplayball@yahoo.com.
