STOCKDALE -- A mother and son are being treated for their injuries at University Hospital in San Antonio, following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 87 and S.H. 97 northwest of here at approximately 9 a.m. July 11. The injured are identified as 39-year-old Bobbie Jo West and her 11-year-old son, Logan, both of Stockdale, according to Cpl. Javier Reyes of the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol.

Reyes said that West was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of U.S. 87 in a Dodge Ram pickup truck when she drove into the path of a southbound Toyota Tundra pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Skylar Knibbe of Selma, which struck the Dodge broadside.

Knibbe suffered only minor injuries, due to airbag deployment, Reyes said.
