The National Weather Service for the Austin-San Antonio area has issued the following report for South Central Texas. Isolated heavy rain possible July 16 through this evening for all of South Central Texas, but primarily along the Rio Grande. The best chances for heavy rain will be from 3-9 p.m.

Heavy rain with minor flash flooding is possible. Many locations will receive another 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rain, but a few spots could receive up to two inches in less than two hours, causing minor flooding of low water crossings and other low-lying spots.

The upper low is now over the Texas Panhandle and will continue to move west-southwest over the next two days. This low and moist Gulf air will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms. Even though the low will move away from the region July 17, a tropical-like atmosphere and weak wave from the Gulf will continue to bring rain chances through Thursday, July 18.

The latest forecasts and watches, warnings, and advisories from the Austin-San Antonio National Weather Service are at http://www.weather.gov/austin.
