FLORESVILLE -- A suspect who fled Wilson County Sheriff’s Office deputies north of here July 16 remains at large. He is described as a white male standing 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with a shaved head and last seen wearing tan shorts and no shirt.

Wilson County Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. said today that at approximately 2 p.m. July 16, the suspect allegedly was involved in a road-rage incident on C.R. 106 near the Atascosa County line. The victim called the sheriff’s office after the suspect fled, Tackitt said.

While en route to the scene, deputies observed the suspect’s vehicle on F.M. 536 and gave chase. But a blown tire prompted the man to park the vehicle near the Picosa Ranch. He then fled on foot.

Tackitt said he and 10 deputies established a perimeter in the area of F.M. 1303, F.M. 536, and C.R. 117. Two Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers joined the search. Attempts to gain assistance from a DPS helicopter crew were unsuccessful, the sheriff said, as all nearby helicopters were down for maintenance. Attempts are being made to positively identify the suspect, and an arrest warrant is pending.

Anyone with information about the suspect's whereabouts is asked to call the Wilson County Sheriff's Office at 830-393-2535. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636) or http://bit.ly/NDrIut.
