1932-2013

Emily Broll of San Antonio, Texas, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 11 days. She was born Sept. 30, 1932, in Kosciusko, the daughter of Vincent and Victoria (Felux) Laskowski.

Emily was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She nurtured everyone she came in contact with and cared for the elderly and the sick. She spent her time working in the yard and loving her animals, but most of all, she loved her family. On June 23, 1959, she married Mike V. Broll and they were happily married for 25 years. Emily was respected by so many for her great passion for prayer. She was a very strong lady of few words but her acts of kindness filled her with many riches and blessings.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mike V. Broll; her parents; her brother, Fabian Laskowski; and her sister, Irene Moczygemba.

Emily is survived by her loving daughters, Dolores Neugebauer and husband Robert, Barbara Pawelek and husband Kenneth, and Kathy Voigt and husband Larry; her grandchildren, Katrina Neugebauer, Ashley Neugebauer, Nathan Neugebauer, Amber Byrom, Kenny Byrom, Amanda Pawelek, Brooke Pawelek, Cassandra Pawelek, Luke Voigt, and Kaitlyn Voigt; her brothers and sisters, Esibuis Laskowski, Olivia Scaramozi, Agnes Laskowski, Felix and Genieve Laskowski, Dorothy and Martin Yanta, and Pat and Richard Verstreten; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held Sunday, July 14, from 5-8 p.m. in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Ricardo Hernandez officiating.

Interment followed in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Yorktown.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011; or www.alz.org.
