Q: Of late, you’ve been very active in criticizing the media and the Obama administration. How do you see your role as Fox News commentator and a columnist?

A: I feel like I have tried to be honest and to really be a journalist. It’s interesting, I’m an opinion journalist. I’m allowed to be opinionated, but I try to be really fair. I try to do my research and consider both sides and get the facts. But, at the same time, my worldview is overwhelmingly liberal, so that will obviously filter how I see things.

Q: Do you think fairness in reporting is more attainable than objectivity?

A: Yeah, I think so. And I try to admit when I’m wrong, too. Sometimes I get something wrong, and I try to own that. (Fox News political commentator) Brit Hume says, “There’s nobody that doesn’t have bias, and the most dangerous people are the people who think they don’t have bias, because they’re not accounting for it.”

You need to know what your bias is, so you can account for it. If you really don’t think you have a bias, then you’re completely blind. You just think that what you think is right, and everybody thinks that.

Q: What’s next?

A: I’m very happy at Fox, doing what I do. I love the people I work with. I get to do “Special Report” and “Fox News Sunday.” I’d feel very blessed if I just keep doing what I’m doing.
