Alvina (Aguirre) Garza, 91, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013. She was born on March 31, 1922, in Castroville to Jose Maria Aguirre and Carmen Garza.

Alvina was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Alejandro Garza Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Anita Garza Valerio and husband Robert; sons Alejandro Garza Jr., Robert Garza, and Johnny Garza; grandchildren Lucille Hoffman and Amy Powell; great-grandchild Sterling Hoffman; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 16, from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Stan Fiuk officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
