Help Wanted

ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

1935-2013

Virgil Lee Riley Jr. passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 77 years, 9 months, and 21 days. He was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Floresville to Alene (Freeman) and Virgil Lee Riley Sr.

He was a lifelong resident of Floresville and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean War as an airman first class.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Virgil is survived by his children, Debbie Riley and fiancé John Patterson of Floresville, Carolyn Wolfe and husband Pat of Indiana, and Virgil W. Riley and wife Carol of La Vernia; his fiancée, Carolyn Allen; his sisters, Mary Ann Valbert of Indiana and Dorothy Mae Pennartz of Floresville; his grandchildren, William Chapman, Sandra Tidball, Chad Long, Matthew Riley, and Cody Riley; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Thursday, July 11, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral service was held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Jim Riley officiating.

Interment followed in the Marcelina Cemetery in Wilson County.

Serving as pallbearers were Chad Long, Matt Riley, Gary Ferry, Houston Riley, Waco Riley, and Hondo Riley.

I was very shocked and sad to learn that we lost Virgil. Virgil was a very important person in my life as well my sons. My thoughts and love are with Debbie and the rest of Virgil's family and friends.
