Offer condolences


Otilia Cervantes, a longtime resident of Poth, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013, in Poth at the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 24 days. She was born on April 1, 1921, in Three Oaks to Jose and Juliana Aldereta Castellano.

Otilia was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfredo Cervantes Sr. in 1983; one twin daughter, Eloisa, in 1939; sons Alfredo Cervantes Jr. and Abel Cervantes; sisters Rita Garcia, Jacoba Estrada, Fidelia Estrada, Irene Ramos, and Aurora Castellano; brothers Alvino Castellano, Jesus Castellano, and Armando Castellano; and one grandson.

Otilia is survived by her children, Candelaria Guevara and husband Braubia, Eloisa Greigo, and Santos Cervantes and wife Dora, all of Poth, Lydia Ramirez and husband Rudy, and Al Cervantes, all of San Antonio, and Richard Cervantes of Austin; brother Joe Castellano of San Antonio; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, July 26, at 6 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the church officiated by the Rev. Gregory Szewczyk.

Interment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were Ryan Cervantes, Patrick Cervantes, Vincent Cervantes, Rudy Ramirez, Richard Cervantes, and Ernest Guevara.
