ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Amy Rathburn McCloskey, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, at 8:10 p.m. in the Floresville Nursing Center at the age of 89 years, 6 months, and 18 days. Amy was born Jan. 4, 1924, in Floresville, the daughter of Robert Henry and Ida Jane Taylor Rathburn.

Amy enjoyed being a volunteer with R.S.V.P. and was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the Floresville Church of Christ. Amy married Rex McCloskey on April 13, 1941, in Floresville. Rex, Amy’s beloved husband of more than 64 years, preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2006.

Amy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rex McCloskey; her daughter, Linda Metting; her great-grandson, Sage Robert McCloskey; four brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by her sons, R. B. McCloskey and wife June of Floresville and Tim McCloskey and wife Colette of Abilene; her foster daughter, Margaret Sterner and husband James of San Antonio; her grandchildren, Matt McCloskey of Floresville, Melissa Barfield and husband Anthony of Floresville, William McCloskey of Abilene, and Clint Metting of Floresville; her great-grandchildren, Tristan McCloskey, Lucas Barfield, Katlyn Barfield, and Justin Barfield; her son-in-law, Carl Metting of Floresville; and her brother, Macon Rathburn and wife Mamie of DeRidder, La.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 24, from 5-7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral service was held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Floresville Church of Christ, officiated by Pastor Gordon Lindley.

Interment followed in the Harper Cemetery in Wilson County.

Serving as pallbearers were Melissa Barfield, Clint Metting, Gail Peschke, Mike Talley, Matt McCloskey, and Jr. Howard.
