1919-2013

Sylvia Brysh Pruski, a resident of Poth, Texas, entered eternal rest Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 8:44 a.m., in the Floresville Nursing Center in Floresville, at the age of 94 years, 3 months, and 9 days. Sylvia was born April 16, 1919, in Cestohowa, the daughter of Vincent and Gertrude Pawelek Brysh.

She worked in the laundry service at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Floresville for many years. Sylvia married Leon V. Pruski Sr., on Oct. 29, 1940, in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Cestohowa. Leon, Sylvia’s beloved husband of more than 33 years, preceded her in death in February 1974. Sylvia enjoyed working outdoors, and was especially talented at sewing and embroidery.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon V. Pruski Sr.; her sons, Wilfred Pruski and Leon V. Pruski Jr.; and her sisters, Irene Felux and Cecelia Sekula.

Sylvia is survived by her sons, Larry Pruski and Bobby G. Pruski and wife Annette; her daughters, Bibian Lyssy Janek and husband Victor, and Margie Merecka and husband Vaughn; her grandchildren, Duane Lyssy, Wendy Volner, Keith Pruski, Steven Pruski, Jennifer Gonzales, Jeremy Pruski, Brian Pruski, Donny Merecka, and Blaine Merecka; and her great-grandchildren, Lance and Taylor Volner, Hannah and Brady Lyssy, Nicholas Gonzales, Sydney and Samantha Merecka, and Aiden, Connor, Caitlyn, and Madison Pruski.

Visitation was held on Sunday, July 28, at 5 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, officiated by the Rev. Grzegorz Szewczyk S.D.S.

Interment followed in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery in Cestohowa.

Serving as pallbearers were Duane Lyssy, Lance Volner, Jeremy Pruski, Brian Pruski, Donny Merecka, and Blaine Merecka.
