Chrysa Kay Wagenfehr Bratz, loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, and sister, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 26, 2013, at the age of 45 years, 8 months, and 29 days after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was born on Oct. 27, 1967, in San Antonio, Texas, to Adeline Viola Weber and John Wagenfehr Jr.

She was a former resident of Von Ormy and a resident of La Vernia for eight years. Chrysa graduated from Highlands High School, subsequently obtaining her BBA in accounting from St. Mary’s University and receiving her nursing certification through the Baptist School of Nursing. Chrysa did so much for others by putting their needs first. Through her work as a registered nurse and high school teacher, she impacted so many lives. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in La Vernia.

Chrysa was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Bratz.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen E. A small family gathering was held on Monday, July 29, in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

Visitation was held on Tuesday at 5 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in St. Ann’s Catholic Church in La Vernia.

A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Stanislaw Fiuk officiating.

Interment will follow in the Concrete Cemetery in La Vernia.
