Deputies from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office are investigating two separate shooting incidents.
Anthony Fish, 21, of Poth is listed in critical condition in University Hospital in San Antonio, according to hospital spokesman Sylvia Garcia. Investigator Richard Nichols of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said Fish was shot July 27 by what officials believe was a .22 caliber rifle, with the bullet entering one side of his torso and exiting the other, during an altercation in a home on F.M. 541 just east of Poth. The incident was reported at 5:10 a.m.
Arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the incident is 48-year-old Jerry Lee Janysek, 48, of Poth. According to Wilson County Jail records, Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Jim Burdette set Janysek’s bond at $10,000.
Nichols said deputies are assisting the Poth Police Department with the investigation, but that preliminary indications are that the two men were involved in a physical altercation. Fish, who was found at a home on East Westmeyer Street in Poth, reported that Janysek was the one who had shot him. A .22 caliber Marlin semi-automatic rifle matching the description of the suspect’s weapon was recovered from the home of Janysek’s neighbor.
The investigation is ongoing, Nichols said, and additional charges could be filed.
North of Floresville
Roberto Martinez Huron Sr., 60, of Floresville is free on a total of $51,000 bond, according to jail records, after being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct discharging a firearm, making a terroristic threat, and three counts of criminally negligent abandonment or endangerment of a child for his alleged role in a July 22 incident in a home on Montesito Lane north of Floresville.
According to a report filed by sheriff’s Deputy Emanuel Fultz, Huron allegedly was involved in a dispute with his son over the son’s alleged mistreatment of Huron’s grandchildren. The dispute turned physical and Huron fired a .22 caliber handgun at his son. The bullet missed and struck a window.
Huron’s wife then confronted her husband; he then threatened to shoot her. The report indicates she fled into a bedroom and hid in a closet with her three grandchildren as Huron allegedly fired three shots through the bedroom door. One of the children then called 911.
When deputies arrived, they found Huron’s son and daughter-in-law hidden in a field near the home.
