Hector Cavazos, 90, passed away in Floresville on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013. He was born on Feb. 11, 1923, in Monterrey, Mexico, to Manuel and Rita Cavazos.

He was a World War II Army veteran and his passion in life was spending time with his loving children and grandchildren.

Hector is survived by his daughters, Hilda Colunga and husband Hector, Cornelia Cavazos and husband David Garcia, and Maria Garibay and husband Henry; sons Mark Cavazos and wife Liza, Hector Cavazos Jr., and Jesus Cavazos; grandchildren Henry and Adam Garibay, Alex and Marissa Colunga, Rebecca and Brian Garcia, and Brandon and Zachary Cavazos; and a sister, Anita Perez.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 6-9 p.m. in the Sunset Northwest Funeral Home in San Antonio.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

A funeral procession will leave on Thursday at 11 a.m. for an 11:45 a.m. graveside and burial service with U.S. Army military honors in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
