Floresville ISD is accepting applications at www.fisd.us for the position of carpenter in the maintenance department, 260 days, 5 days per week, 8 hour workday.
ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Be sure to save the date for the 12th annual La Vernia BBQ Cook-Off to be held on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9-10, in the La Vernia City Park on San Antonio Road in La Vernia.

Gates will open at 3 p.m. on Friday with a variety of fun activities to include kids cook, a carnival, arts and crafts, a zipline, a jalapeno-eating contest, a performance by the South Texas Gunfighters, and more. The fun will continue on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The highlight of the cook-off is the IBCA-sanctioned barbecue cooking competition, where teams compete for the best barbecue chicken, beef, and ribs.

Live music will be provided by Ross Brunner on Friday night and San Antonio Music Awards Best Country Band 2012 winner, the “Natalie Rose Band” on Saturday. Both performances will be from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Admission will be charged at the gate. Free parking will be available.
