1934-2013

Bettye Maxine McMeans Main was born Jan. 11, 1934, in rural Wilson County near Stockdale, Texas, and traded her earthly body for her Angel’s wings on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, in Converse. She was the fourth of six children born to Murl and Annie McMeans.

Bettye lived her entire life in central and south Texas, and devoted herself to making a home for her family. She also had an antique business that kept her busy for many years. She traveled to many foreign countries and kept many souvenirs to remind her of those travels.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Marvin Kolberg; her parents; sons Rick, Chet, and Kenneth; nephew Clint McMeans; niece Kathy Kolberg; sister Merlene; and brother J.O. “Sonny.”

Bettye is survived by three children, Debra Kolberg Wright, John Kolberg, and Kimberly Kolberg Sanchez; sisters Vivian Posey, Barbara Hines (her twin), and JoAnn Loyer; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins from the McMeans and Neyland families; and many loving friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 6-9 p.m., with family present from 6-8 p.m., in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel.

Interment will follow in the Stockdale Cemetery in Stockdale where she will rest near her beloved sons.
