Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. 1937-2013

Bobby Jowers Caffey Schelper of San Antonio, Texas, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, in Jourdanton at the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 16 days. She was born Feb. 23, 1937, in San Antonio to Carl and Louise C. Williams Jowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Carlene Denney.

Bobby is survived by her husband, Alfred Schelper of San Antonio; her children, Terrie Marvin of San Antonio, Robert Glenn Caffey and wife Bonnie of San Antonio, Gerald Caffey and wife Cherry of Oklahoma, Gary Caffey and wife Cathy of San Antonio, Greg Caffey and wife Judy of Houston, and Gene Caffey of San Antonio; her sisters, Katy DuBose and husband Harold of Devine, Eva Puryear and husband Robert of Floresville, and Barbara Smith of Devine; her brother, Larry Jowers and wife Nancy of Houston; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 11, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral service was held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Joel Odom officiating.

Interment followed in the Sutherland Springs Cemetery in Sutherland Springs.

Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons.
