1927-2013

Blasita “Bessie” Cisneros Amaya, a resident of Nixon, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at 9:01 a.m. in her residence at the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 20 days. Bessie was born in Westoff on June 8, 1927, to Roberto and Ramona (Pena) Cisneros.

The family moved to Robstown where she attended school, worked the fields, and later met and married Juan Amaya on May 19, 1946. Bessie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. All her children adored her and will miss her dearly. Bessie enjoyed family and friend gatherings, dancing, music, singing, flowers, and church activities. She was a member of Iglesia Bautista Macedonia in Nixon.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Juan Amaya; her son, Jose Roel “Roy” Amaya; her grandson, Jose Roel “J.R.” Amaya Jr.; and sisters Cecilia Molina and Esiquia Martinez.

She is survived by five daughters, Ramona Lara of Seguin, Aida Camarillo and husband Johnny of Floresville, Velma Aguirre and husband Patricio of Nixon, Grace Bishop and husband Joel of Weston, Fla., and Cindy Santos and husband Bobby of Round Rock; three sons, Hector Amaya and wife Lamar of Nixon, Johnny Amaya and wife Beatrice of Victoria, and the Rev. Rene Amaya and wife Erlinda of Nixon; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Amaya of Nixon; 30 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Tiodula Pena of Smiley and Rita Santos and husband Rudy of Weimar; one brother, Rudy Cisneros and wife Alicia of Banquete; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 31, in the First Baptist Church in Nixon.

A funeral service was held on Thursday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Rene Amaya and the Rev. Jason Page officiating.

Interment followed in the Burriola Cemetery in Smiley.

Serving as pallbearers were Andrew Amaya, Hector Amaya, Nicholas Amaya, John Erik Camarillo, Jeffrey Aguirre, Keith Joel Bishop, Phillip Santos, Jeremy Camarillo, and Matthew Santos.

The Amaya family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from families and friends, as well as Nixon and surrounding communities, during our time of loss of our beloved mother, Bessie Amaya.

Thank you to Mr. Franklin and staff at Franklin Funeral Home of Floresville, to Accolade Hospice and staff in Yoakum, and Guadalupe Valley Nursing Home and staff in Seguin.
