LA VERNIA -- Police here are investigating a single-vehicle wreck that occurred at 12:40 a.m. Aug. 7 on F.M. 1346.

According to Sgt. Danny Pitts of the La Vernia Police Department, 38-year-old Lorena Senac of La Vernia lost control of a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country as she rounded a curve on F.M. 1346 behind the H-E-B shopping center. This caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a 2,000- gallon propane tank. Pitts said the impact moved the tank 5 feet and ruptured a supply line to the H-E-B Supermarket. Workers in the store were evacuated as members of the La Vernia Volunteer Fire Department quickly stopped the leak, Pitts said.

Personnel from the La Vernia Emergency Medical Services transported Senac to the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville with a possible broken arm and injuries to her chest and ankle.

Senac’s passenger, her 52-year-old husband, Cliff Gutierrez Senac, was not injured, Pitts said. He reported that he was teaching his wife how to drive.

The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist with traffic control, Pitts said.
