Students in the La Vernia Independent School District (ISD) return to school Monday, Aug. 26. The district is pleased to announce that the district and all of its campuses “Met Standard” in the state’s new accountability system. The new system has four indices: Student Achievement, Student Progress, Closing Performance Gaps, Postsecondary Readiness.

The new system fundamentally has two ratings -- Met Standard or Improvement Required. Ratings were issued for all districts, campuses, and charter schools in Texas. Additionally, the system provides data to assist in pinpointing areas that should be addressed for continuous improvement.

In the next few weeks, district and campus teams in La Vernia ISD will be reviewing data and preparing plans to continue meeting standards and improve the academic success of all students in the district.

Dr. Tom Harvey, district superintendent, said he is proud of his students and staff. Additionally, he commented that plans for the future will find exciting opportunities for each and every student.
