SAN ANTONIO -- CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System is proud to present Breast Health Awareness Night with the San Antonio Silver Stars Saturday, Aug. 17. Wearing pink uniforms, the Silver Stars will face off against the Phoenix Mercury at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center, on a specially painted pink court.

Following the game, the players will auction their jerseys live, on-court, with proceeds benefitting the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Mobile Mammography Unit and Silver & Black Give Back. Last season, the Silver Stars Breast Health Awareness auction raised $41,200 which was put toward services for the unfunded and upgrades to the Mobile Mammography Unit, as well as Silver & Black Give Back youth programs.

The CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Mobile Mammography Unit offers convenient and affordable breast cancer screenings for women in Bexar and 13 surrounding counties, many of whom live a considerable distance from the nearest medical center. Since the opening of the mobile unit in 2005, it has provided more than 12,000 mammograms. In 2013, the mobile unit underwent a transformation to include a new design and upgraded digital technology. Since the upgrade, the unit provides an average of 320 screenings per month, a 50 percent increase since the conversion to digital technology.
