The Floresville City Council has proposed an ad valorem tax rate of 46.33 cents per $100 of property value, voting 3-1 in favor of the rate at its Aug. 15 special meeting.

The rate, if approved, would result in a 14.55-cent -- almost 46 percent -- increase over the current 31.78-cent rate.

Prior to formally adopting a tax rate, the council will hold two public hearings. They are set for 7 p.m. on Aug. 28 and Sept. 5.

For more, read the Aug. 21 edition of the Wilson County News.
