ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. 1941-2013

Claudette Jacob, 72, passed away in her home in La Vernia, Texas, on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013. She was born on March 14, 1941, in Kerrville to William Rowland and Melba Clair (Gentry) Nichols.

Claudette baked the best oatmeal cookies in the world. She loved everybody’s babies and always had time to encourage and uplift everyone she met. Claudette truly put God first in her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Jimmy Ray Jacob.

Claudette is survived by her son, Raymond Page Jacob II of La Vernia; sisters Billie Jean Thompson of San Antonio and Judy Renee Post and husband Terry of La Vernia; brothers William Rowland Nichols Jr. of Colorado and Johnny Wayne Nichols and wife Linda of La Vernia; and many nieces and nephews and other family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 3 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia with Pastor Terry Post to officiate. Memorial contributions may be made in Claudette’s name to South Texas Church of God, P.O. Box 1089, La Vernia, TX 78121.
