ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Terrence Joseph “Terry” McGovern, 67, of Kenedy, Texas, formerly of San Antonio, entered into eternal peace Monday, Aug. 12, 2013. He was born May 10, 1946, in Chicago, Ill., to Edward P. and Maria Hartley McGovern.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. Terry was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He then went on to serve his community in San Antonio at the University Hospital as a social worker for the Texas Department of Family Services, from which he retired after 28 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas McGovern.

Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Irene McGovern; his son, Christopher Alvear; his daughter, Michelle Alvear; granddaughter Jacquelyn; grandsons Kendell and Michael; his brothers, Eddie McGovern and Phil McGovern; his sisters, Monica McClusky and Janie Casanova; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Thursday, Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel in Kenedy.

A prayer vigil service was held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. in the St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City.
