FLORESVILLE -- The former Wilson County Memorial Hospital on Hospital Boulevard (S.H. 97 West) adjacent to Pecan Park has been vacant since being replaced by the Connally Memorial Medical Center on U.S. 181, which opened in 2005. Since then, the privately owned building has become a nuisance, being a favorite target for activities such as theft, vandalism, and squatting.

But under a proposal presented to the Floresville City Council Aug. 15, that could change. Walt Buzby of San Antonio-based Turner Buzby Development told the council about a proposal to renovate the building. Buzby, William Chandler of Oakwell Ventures, and Rick Brender of B&A Architects are spearheading a plan to convert the long-vacant building to a 62- to 65-room hotel being referred to as the “Company Man Resort.”

The three made the same presentation to the Floresville Economic De-velopment Corp. (FEDC) board at its Aug. 12 meeting. They are under contract to purchase the building. But because of the cost of necessary renovations, the group is requesting property-tax abatement and a Section 380 agreement. The latter means that the partnership would receive a rebate on the city’s share of any hotel/motel tax revenue that the establishment would generate over a 30-year period.

For more about the Aug. 12 FEDC meeting, see page 3A. For more about the Aug. 15 Floresville City Council meeting, see article this page.

Yes excellent answer. The chief must be a lawyer or a politician. No one else can create such an unresponsive answer and still think he won.
