The last regular meeting of the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce was held July 29. The board spent time discussing preliminary financial results from the 2013 Watermelon Jubilee and also discussed areas for improvement with respect to next year’s festival.

Stockdale Athletic Association representative Ray Donsbach was in attendance at the meeting to present plans for the acquisition of roster boards to be used in the Stockdale High School gym. The board voted in favor of partnering with other local organizations to sponsor the acquisition of the roster boards, with the Chamber committing up to $600 toward the cause. Board member Paul Darilek, also superintendent of Stockdale Independent School District, abstained from voting.

The board also made plans to participate in Christmas in Stockdale, which will be coming up during the first weekend of December.

The next regular meeting of the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce will be held on Monday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m. in the offices of the Stockdale Economic Development Corp. The August meeting will feature board member and officer elections. There are a few open spots on our board so please make plans to attend this meeting if you are interested in serving in that capacity.

Sherry D. Lambeck is the president of the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce.
