James and Janice Shadrock of Adkins, Texas, celebrated their 50 years of marriage with a Mass on Aug. 4, 2013, in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig, followed by a small luncheon with their daughters and their families: Jaelynn, Jason, Jamilyn, and Julianne Hart of Adkins; Joyce, Doug, and Brent Hendry of Seguin; and Scott, Bailee, and Kaelynn Hendry of San Antonio.

Also attending were their brothers and sisters: Bill Shadrock, Frank and Barbara Shadrock, and Rosalie Kosub all of Adkins; Lambert and Mary Rakowitz of Dallas; Carl and Venge Rakowitz of Schertz, and Donna Cude of San Antonio. Their matron of honor, Marcy Shodrock, and a close friend, Hazel Teague, were also present.

Later this year, James and Janice will continue their celebration with a land and cruise tour of Alaska for 14 days. Their land tour will be in Fairbanks, Denali National Park, Talkeetna, Anchorage, Homer, Solotna, and Whittier, Alaska. Their cruise will begin in Whittier with port stops in Icy Strait Point, Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan, Alaska, and will end in Vancouver, Canada.

James and Janice were married on Aug. 3, 1963, in St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in San Antonio.
