1935-2013

Edwin Janysek, 78, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, in Houston, Texas. Edwin was born in Helena, on July 15, 1935, to Frank and Matilda Janysek.

He married Virginia Sekula in Cestohowa on Dec. 2, 1961. Edwin spent two years of active duty in the U.S. Army with the Signal Corps stationed in Georgia, where he began a career in electronics working as a TV camera man and electronics signal repairman. Later, he moved to Houston to be employed with Mission Manufacturing and TRW as a machinist/inspector in oilfield specialties.

In addition to his love for all types of camera work and electronics, he had a passion for flying and his dream was to build his own airplane. He did realize some of his dream by becoming a student pilot. In more recent years, he explored another venture in music, and began playing the accordion. He enjoyed life, was hard-working and quite adventurous, taking his family on ski trips, camping, and hiking. He was a resident of Houston for some 45 years, although he kept deeply rooted in the county where he grew up, maintaining another home in Helena for his family to enjoy.

He was preceded in death by his small infant children, Douglas Janysek and Mary Janysek; his parents; and his brother, Frank Janysek Jr.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Virginia Sekula Janysek; his daughters, Sonja Janysek and Amy Janysek; and his sister-in-law, Agnes Janysek.

Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 23, at 6 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the church. Interment followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at https://donate.americanheart.org.
