Bettye Madge Partridge, 77, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, in her home near Leesville. She was born to Myra Gladys Woodland and Albert Wendell Arnold in Pasadena, Texas, on July 28, 1936.

Bettye graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos on May 25, 1958, with a Bachelor of Science in education. She married Frank on June 27, 1959, in Harris County. They were married for 32 years and for the majority of that time resided on a ranch in Leesville, where they raised crossbred cattle. Bettye taught biology and physical education, and coached for 15 years. She also worked for Pioneer Refinery in Nixon as an office manager. She loved the ranch and all the animals that came with it.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Frank Partridge.

Bettye is survived by her children, Carolyn Billings and husband Mark and John Partridge and wife Julie; her sister, Irma Lewis; two grandchildren, Brandon Hamm and wife Deanna and Michael Byrd; five great-grandchildren, Frank Hamm, Cameron Byrd, Tyler Byrd, Kayla Byrd, and Kaylie Byrd; a special friend, Connie Difabion; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many friends.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m. in the Leesville Methodist Church in Leesville, officiated by Terry Davis.

Bettye’s college sorority sisters served as honorary pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Seguin Outdoor Learning Center, Guadalupe Valley Hospice, or to the American Cancer Society (Seguin Chapter, c/o Jeanette Siltmann).
