Stockdale Lions hold Charter Night

The Stockdale Lions Club held its Charter Night Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Stockdale High School. During the formal ceremony, all of the elected officers were installed by fellow Lions from across Texas District 2-A2, and the charter members present signed the charter. Back Door Catering catered the event and entertainment was provided by Britteny Martinez, Stockdale High School junior and drum major.
Guest speaker for the night was Past International Director M.P. “Mike” Butler of Kerrville. Stockdale Chamber of Commerce Director Betty Soto gave the welcoming address and presented the club with a plaque.
Floresville Lions Club Boss Lion Ben Reed and Immediate Past President Paul Sack presented the Stockdale Lions Club with its club banner. Boss Lion Angelicque Schmidt, president of the Stockdale Lions Club, spoke of the upcoming events and activities for the community of Stockdale, including the International Peace Poster Contest for Stockdale Middle School students, a Lions Quest Program for Stockdale Elementary School students, and possibly a new Leo Club.
Lions Club members from more than 15 different clubs joined the 20 charter members in celebrating the event. Stockdale Lions Club charter members in attendance included Russell Dover, Sammi Dover, Juanita Garza, Maxine Garza, Josh Heimann, Whitney Heimann, Calvin Hogg, Dana Hogg, Aaron Hummel, Alisha Hummel, Kelly McGuffin, Ross Miller, Kathy Maiorana, Amanda Morales, Doug Peterson, Sara Peterson, Angelicque Schmidt, Greg Schmidt, Betty Soto, and Maria Stobb.
To become a member, contact any officer or attend the meetings held every third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Stockdale High School Ag Science Building.
