Help Wanted

Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. 1942-2013

Carolyn Ann Bloxhom Campbell passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 71 years, 4 months, and 16 days. She was born April 9, 1942, in San Antonio to Myron and Ruby Jackson Bloxhom. She was a resident of San Antonio and a former resident of Von Ormy for 26 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband Auvey Campbell; and her grandson, Kevin Castillo.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Robin and Kenny Williams of Venus, Jack and Liz Campbell of Floresville, William Campbell of San Antonio, and Mark and Shirley Campbell of Venus; her sister, Nancy Bloxhom of San Antonio; her brothers, Gerald Bloxhom of Calhoun, La., and Roger Bloxhom of Monroe, La.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday at 3 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Elmendorf with the Rev. Andrew Kasaro officiating.

Interment followed in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Elmendorf.

Serving as pallbearers were Jack Campbell, Mark Campbell, William Campbell, Steven Castillo, Jack Michael Campbell, and Jay Wyatt Campbell.
