ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Peter E. Gonzales Sr., 84, of La Vernia passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013. He was born on March 26, 1929, in Houston, Texas, to Diego Garza and Lucianita (Elizondo) Gonzales.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Peter E. Gonzales Jr.

He is survived by his children, Sylvia G. Vega and Mark A. Gonzales and wife Sandra; mother of his children Carmen M. Gonzales; grandchildren Joaquin Gonzales, Meghan Gonzales, and David Vega; great-grandchildren Joaquin Morales and Xavior Morales; brother Sam E. Gonzales and wife Yolanda; sisters Mary Ortega and husband Gilbert and Martha Ubando; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 30, from 1-2 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral chapel.

Interment followed in St. Ann’s Cemetery near La Vernia.

Memorial contributions may be made to the La Vernia Christian Teaching Center, 10688 U.S. 87, La Vernia, TX 78121; or to St. Ann’s Cemetery, 14151 U.S. 87 W., La Vernia, TX 78121.
