Q: What will you not eat?

A: Walnuts

Q: You’re incredibly well traveled. Where do you want to go?

A: I want to focus overseas, and I am really hot about a couple of countries, Paraguay and Uruguay. I will have been to every country in South America. As a traveler I have a pretty big number of cultures I want to see. I want to see more of Africa; I’ve been to about 27 countries. Botswana is famously one of my favorite places. And China -- I have done 10 trips to China.

Q: When you return to your hometown, New York City, what do you eat?

A: I usually have six meals a day. New York is also the most international city in the world, so you can do anything and everything there. We have no good Korean food (in Minnesota), and I love Korean food in New York. I like to do the great Italian restaurants. Plus there is such brilliant modernist food. I was just stranded there, and we booked a room, and I had dinner Monday night at Nomad. The food there was so brilliant and pitch perfect. You have the greatest chefs in the world cooking.

Q: Are you a good cook?

A: I am a great cook, but I am also the pickiest person. I am my own harshest critic. There is a lot of food I cook all the time. I love to cook, and I love to eat.
