1924-2013

Loyce Yvonne Smith went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at the age of 88 years. She was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Burnet County, Texas, to Neal and Lois Fox.

She graduated from Southwest Texas State University earning a degree in education. She especially enjoyed teaching history to junior high school children during her career as a teacher. Loyce and Homer Smith moved to La Vernia and resided there for more than 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer W. Smith; and brother Rex Fox.

Loyce is survived by her children, Kelley Smith, Jo Carol Speikes, Bill Smith, and Pamela Young; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Gilbert Fox; and many loving family members and friends.

Loyce loved the Lord and loved sharing the Lord with others. We miss her, but rejoice she is with the Lord. We love you, Mama, Mom, and Meemaw, said the family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 10:30 a.m. in the La Vernia Teaching Center in La Vernia, officiated by Pastor Bill Moore.
