CASA VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR, FULL-TIME POSITION. Provides professional staff support to CASA volunteers to ensure that abused children’s best interests are represented in court. Social services experience required.  Responsible for assisting with recruiting and initial training of advocates, and coordinating cases in Wilson County and Karnes County with Atascosa County (home office). Must demonstrate written and presentation communication skills. Must be available to work intermittent evenings/weekends with some travel.  Must have personal car, current TDL, and auto liability insurance. Offer condolences


Janie Leal Antuna, a longtime resident of Poth, Texas, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at 9:15 p.m. in the Guadalupe Valley Nursing Center in Seguin at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 17 days. Janie was born March 21, 1929, in Cestohowa, the daughter of Alonzo and Severa Martinez Leal.

She attended Sunnyside School and worked with the Poth Independent School District for many faithful years. Janie married Benancio Antuna on March 18, 1951, in the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church in Poth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Pedro Leal; and her sisters, Rosa Leal Longoria, Olivia Leal Longoria, and Matilda Leal Garza.

Janie is survived by her beloved husband of more than 62 years, Benancio Antuna of Poth; her loving daughter, Belma Antuna-Moreno and husband Leo of Poth; her precious grandchildren, Rebecca Moreno and Benjamin Moreno, both of Poth; and her treasured sister, Frances Urrabazo of Poteet.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 3:30 p.m. in the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church in Poth.

A prayer and funeral service was held on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the church, officiated by Pastor Jim Collins.

Interment followed in the Emmanuel Assembly of God Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were Pete Leal, Isaac Leal, James Leal, David Leal, Simon Garza Jr., and Robert Longoria.
