1930-2013

Virginia Traber Dziuk was called to her eternal home on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at the age of 83. She was born on Jan. 15, 1930, to Emil Louis and Selma Guerrero Traber and was raised in Falls City, Texas.

She graduated from Karnes City High School, and on Feb. 19, 1952, she married George in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City and settled in Floresville, where they lived their 60 years together.

Virginia can be remembered as the Avon Lady and also sold Stanley products for many years, for which she received many awards for top sales. Most will remember her at the Arcadia Theatre, which she owned and operated from 1960-79. She also sold Catholic Life Insurance from 1997 to 2002.

She loved traveling, visiting New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma, Las Vegas, Florida, Washington, D.C., Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Chicago, California, and more. She took her first cruise in 2010, which was 14 days through the Panama Canal with stops in Aruba, Costa Rica, Huatulco, Acapulco, and Cabo San Lucas.

Virginia was very active in the community and church. She taught religion at Sacred Heart, worked at church picnics, was a member of the Altar Society, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8555, a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and served on the Peanut Festival board of directors for many years. She also helped raise funds for the March of Dimes and participated in the annual Relay For Life as a cancer survivor. She volunteered as a part of the RSVP program and spent countless hours helping at the Floresville Nursing Center, the Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home, and Regency Manor. She could also be found at the Senior Citizens Center almost daily playing games until her health declined.

Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, George Anthony; her parents; brothers John Henry and wife Mary, and Emil Louis “Buster” Traber; sisters Frances “Sis” Pena Martinez and husbands Cisto and Frank, Anna Lee Torres Davis and husbands Alex and Earl, and Dorothy “Tinnie” Toudouze and husband Leo; and brothers-in-law Jerome “Jerry” Dziuk, Rudolph “Rudy” Dziuk, and Anton “Fritz” Dziuk.

She is survived by her four children, Yvonne Moseley and husband Cecil, Reagan Dziuk and wife Marilyn, James Dziuk and wife Sophie, and Annette Dziuk Villarreal; nine grandchildren, Jason Moseley and wife Jennifer, Justin Moseley and wife Terry, Dakota, Dalton, and Dillon Dziuk, and Ashlynn, Alyssa, and Avery Villarreal; stepgranddaughter Rhianna Schoonover and husband James; five great-grandchildren, Aiden and Blake Moseley, and Sydney, Shyanna, and Seraphyn Schoonover; sisters-in-law Victoria Traber, Dolores Kotara and husband Frank, Rosalie Dziuk, Rachel Dziuk, and Wilma Dziuk; and brothers-in-law Thomas Dziuk and wife Sylvia and Louis “Pat” Dziuk and wife Loretta.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 2 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by the Rev. Frank Kurzaj.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Jason Moseley, Justin Moseley, Cecil Moseley, Dakota Dziuk, Dalton Dziuk, and Dillon Dziuk.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Ashlynn, Alyssa, and Avery Villarreal, and Blake Moseley.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart School, 1007 Trail St., Floresville, TX 78114, or to the charity of one’s choice.
