1920-2013

Dorothy O’Neal, formerly of Smiley, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013. Dorothy was born to James and Johnnie McFarland on April 13, 1920, in Gonzales County.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Smiley.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wesley Monroe O’Neal; two daughters, Barbara Jones and Samantha O’Neal; her son, Gary O’Neal; brothers Robert McFarland, Millard Stewart, J.R. Stewart, and Merrell Stewart; sisters Geneva Redmonn, Hattie Lewis, Azalene Elder, Donnie Wight, Johnnie Witzel, and Ava O’Neal; and two grandsons, Billy Jones and Kevin Pullin.

She is survived by her daughter, Bennie Pullin; her son, Dwayne O’Neal; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A memorial service was held on Friday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 100, Smiley, TX 78159.
